Nollywood actor Funsho Adeolu has sparked discussions after questioning the sources of wealth of some of his female colleagues in the industry.
During a recent conversation with Teju Babyface on the King of Talk podcast, Adeolu made bold statements regarding the financial disparities among actors and actresses in Nollywood.
The actor claimed that despite charging more money per role than most Nollywood actresses, he often observes his female counterparts living extravagant lifestyles beyond their apparent means.
Expressing his observations, Adeolu pondered how some actresses afford luxurious cars and fund opulent lifestyles solely through earnings from acting roles.
“I charge more money per movie than most Nollywood actresses, but they ride bigger cars than I do,” he remarked during the podcast.
“They can’t say they only make money from acting movies to fund their lifestyle. These are people that if I collect N200,000 in a job, they can’t collect N20,000 but are riding bigger cars than I am riding.
“What they do is come on set, show themselves on TV and so they have the opportunities. They don’t have anything in their accounts.
“Going to big parties and spraying money but when you get back home you’re calling somebody to come and pay your house rent.
“All these people grew up in the village. 90% of them might not think they would ever come to Lagos.”
