Global music icon Akon has been selected to host the 4th annual All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2017 which takes place on Sunday, November 12.
The award holds at the Eko Convention Centre of the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The African Union Commision and the International Committee of Afrima released a statement on Tuesday to confirm that the Senegal-born superstar will host the event.
According to the statement, Akon will handle the event proceedings of the live broadcast award show slated to air live on over 80 television stations and social media platforms to audiences around the world.
Cameroonian-French entertainment broadcaster Sophy Aiida will be co-hosting the event with the Grammy awards winner.
Aiida who grew up in Paris and New York before returning to her homeland Cameroon to contribute her talent to the growth of her country, is a multi-talented and multilingual broadcaster.
She is also an actress, a singer and the co-founder of the Nakande Project, an initiative that supports the emergence of great young women through its education, empowerment and mentorship programmes.
Meanwhile, Africans in the globe are highly anticipating the AFRIMA 2017 main awards ceremony and the AFRIMA music village which will hold on Friday, November 10.
The Music Village is an evening event of non-stop open music festival of live performances from African stars and nominees, with an audience of 40,000 people.
The Music Village will also be broadcast live.
