Chief Deipreye Solomom Alamieyeseigha will be buried on Saturday, April 9, in his Amassoma country home in Bayelsa state, it has been revealed.
Alamieyeseigha, the first elected civilian Governor of Bayelsa state, died on October 10 2015 at the University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital following a brief illness.
The Chairman, Central Burial Committee and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Retd), announced the burial arrangement.
He said:
“There will be a Youth/Student Activities in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital; public lecture on Federalism and Development in Nigeria, by Prof. G.G Darah at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa; Night of Songs and Tributes at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenagoa.
“On Friday, April 8, there will be a Valedictory State Executive Council Session, at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa and Wake-keep at his country home in Amassoma.”
A commmendation service on Saturday, April 9, will be followed by his internment in Amassoma, his country home, Jonah said.
He added that the burial programme will wrap up with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, April 10 at St. Peters Anglican Church, Yenagoa.
