Armed bandits stormed three communities in Rabah local government area of Sokoto state.
Okay.ng understands that 25 persons were killed in the attacks that occurred at Kalhu, Tsage and Geeri villages near Gandi on Saturday.
Sokoto governor Aminu Tambuwal attended the funeral of the attacks victims held at Gandi town on Sunday.
The governor also condoled with families of the 25 persons killed during the attacks.
He assured that the government would take steps “to end such uncivilized and barbaric attacks”.
Tabuwal advised community members to provide informations to assist security agencies track down the bandits.
The governor alongside heads of security agencies, traditional rulers and government officials were present at the town during the burial.
In the same development, President Muhammadu Buhari forwarded his condolences to people of Sokoto as he condemned the recent attacks.
Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Sunday said:
“The president, who was briefed about the incident and the arrests so far made by the police, condoles with Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the people of the State over the tragic incident.
“President Buhari strongly condemns all acts of violence and terrorism against innocent Nigerians, reiterating that perpetrators and sponsors of such dastardly acts would be held accountable under the law.
“The president prays for the quick recovery of all those injured and assures that his administration will not relent in the fight to neutralise terrorists, bandits and kidnappers around the country.”
