Spanish giants, Barcelona have renamed their first-team training pitch ‘Camp Tio Vilanova’ in memory of their late former coach, Tito Vilanova who died from cancer in 2014.
The ceremony, which took place on Friday, February 20, 2015, saw the gathering of the entire Barcelona squad, the late Vilanova’s widow, Montse Chaure as well as his children.
Tito Vilanova, who took over as manager after Pep Guardiola stepped down in 2012, led Barcelona to La Liga glory in his only season as manager, with the team notably reaching 100 points and finishing 15 ahead of Real Madrid before his health conditions forced him to step down in 2013.
