Bayern Munich and Tottenham are on the brink of finalizing an agreement for England captain, Harry Kane.
Okay.ng gathered that the proposed deal is valued at over €100m (£86.4m).
At 30 years of age, Kane currently holds a year left on his contract with Tottenham, leaving him at a crossroads to decide whether he will continue with the club or seek new horizons.
The striker has netted an impressive 280 goals in 435 appearances, making him Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer.
Kane’s journey in the transfer market has taken twists and turns, with earlier links to Manchester United. However, Bayern Munich’s focused pursuit marked a significant shift. Despite several earlier attempts, it seems that the stars have aligned for this deal to come to fruition.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been a stalwart defender of the club’s assets, including Kane, rejecting advances from various suitors over the years. Even Premier League champions Manchester City’s 2021 attempt to acquire the striker was rebuffed. It’s worth noting that Kane’s potential move to another Premier League team had been in doubt, given Levy’s stance.
The path to this moment has been eventful. Amid negotiations with Bayern, Kane remained loyal to Tottenham, even participating in pre-season matches, showcasing his commitment. The club’s newly appointed manager, Ange Postecoglou, had passionately conveyed his vision to Kane, aiming to persuade him to remain in the north London team.
Kane had won the Premier League Golden Boot on three occasions – in 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2020-21.
Since his debut for Tottenham in 2012, he has netted an impressive 213 goals in 320 Premier League games. Interestingly, he is now a mere 48 goals away from breaking Alan Shearer’s scoring record.
