Former Manchester City left-back, Benjamin Mendy, has signed for Swiss club FC Zurich with immediate effect, securing a contract that runs until 2026.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the 30-year-old defender joins Zurich from French side Lorient, where he spent the past one-and-a-half seasons.
Mendy made the move to Lorient after his release from Manchester City, where he featured in 75 appearances between 2017 and 2022.
His exit from City followed legal proceedings, during which he successfully won his case and reclaimed a substantial portion of his unpaid salary that had been withheld during his trial on rape charges.
After nearly two years without professional football, Mendy signed with Lorient in 2023 and went on to make 15 appearances for the club. However, Lorient was relegated to Ligue 2 following the 2023-24 season.
His new club, FC Zurich, currently sits eighth in the Swiss Super League, trailing league leaders Basel by seven points.
The Swiss transfer window remains open until February 17.
