Former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Omololu Olunloyo, has died just days before his 90th birthday, okay.ng reports.
Chief Olunloyo, who also held the titles of Balogun of Oyo and Otun Bobasewa of Ife, passed away in the early hours of Sunday.
His death was confirmed in a statement released by Barrister Oladapo Ogunwusi, a former Editor of the Nigerian Tribune.
The statement expressed the family’s “heavy heart but gratitude to the Almighty” in announcing the passing of Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, describing him as a former governor, mathematician, engineer, and renowned technocrat.
The statement further highlighted Dr. Olunloyo’s significant contributions, noting that he was the first Rector of both Ibadan Polytechnic and Kwara State Polytechnic, among other notable appointments. His extensive service to the nation and humanity was a source of pride for his family and associates as they mourn his loss.
The Olunloyo family has requested understanding from the press and the public as they begin arrangements for a proper burial.
