President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday evening met behind close doors with the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
The meeting which was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja was called to discuss the recent killings recorded in Benue State and other parts of the country.
This was disclosed by the Presidency in a message posted on its Twitter handle, @NGRPresident.
According to the message, the meeting was at the instance of the President.
It said Buhari called the meeting to enable him to brief the National Assembly leaders of ongoing efforts aimed at restoring normalcy to troubled parts.
The message read, “Ongoing: President @MBuhari meeting with Senate President @bukolasaraki & Speaker @YakubDogara on the security situation in Benue and other parts of the country.
“The President called the meeting to brief @nassnigeria on @AsoRock’s ongoing efforts at #SecuringBenue.”
