The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai, has deployed Special Forces to Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba state over the recent killings allegedly by Fulani herdsmen.
Speaking during the distribution of farm implements by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, at the military ranch situated in Giri, in Abuja, Buratai said the Army would restore peace and order in the affected States
He said once there is peace in the country, it would be easier to develop the agricultural sector and boost the nation’s economy.
Buratai said: “We are asking our Special Forces Brigade to ensure that they are deployed across the county at short notice to ensure they stem the menace between herdsmen and farmers.
“We are right deployed properly across Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa States within that axis where we have such conflicts to ensure that once there is peace and stability, this development will strive for the betterment of our country.”
