The Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, has initiated an investigation into the tragic killing of four senior officers and 12 soldiers in Delta State during a communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities.
The incident occurred on Thursday, March 14, when troops from the 181 Amphibious Battalion responded to a distress call in the Bomadi Local Government Area.
According to Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Acting Director of Defence Information, the military personnel were surrounded by community youths while on a peace mission, resulting in the deaths of the commanding officer, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers.
Gusau stated that the incident has been reported to the Delta State Government, and the CDS has ordered the unmasking of the perpetrators. Several suspects have already been arrested in connection with the attack.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the country, emphasizing that investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack.
