The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned a suit seeking the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) until July 5.
The suit, filed by the North Central APC Forum, challenges Ganduje’s appointment as chairman, citing that he is not from the North Central geo-political zone.
The plaintiff argues that Ganduje’s appointment breaches the party’s constitution and seeks a court order to restrain him from parading himself as chairman.
The suit also requests that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not recognize actions taken by the APC under Ganduje’s leadership.
On Wednesday, the court adjourned the matter to allow the plaintiff to respond to a fresh application filed by Ganduje’s lawyer, Sanusi Musa, challenging the suit’s competence. The judge, Inyang Ekwo, set the new hearing date for July 5.
