A Federal High Court in Abuja has again refused to stop impeachment proceedings against Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose.
The latest ruling was delivered on Thursday, April 16, 2015, by Justice Ahmed Mohammed.
Justice Mohammed denied Fayose’s ex parte application for an interim injunction and also refused to grant an order directing parties to maintain the status quo.
The judge listened to arguments on both sides before making his decision and eventually adjourned further hearing to April 29.
The impeachment proceedings were instituted against Fayose and his deputy, Kolapo Olusola by the 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the State House of Assembly.
Fayose had urged the lawmakers to embrace peace after the Supreme Court, on April 14, upheld his victory in the June 2014 elections.
The lawmakers, led by Speaker, Adewale Omirin, however said that the impeachment plan would proceed as the governor must be made to answer to the allegations levelled against him.
