Cristiano Ronaldo is poised to make history as the first player to appear in six European Championships after being named in Portugal’s 26-man squad for Euro 2024. The 39-year-old, five-time Ballon d’Or winner will be appearing in his 11th major international tournament, a testament to his enduring talent and dedication.
Ronaldo, who has already made a record 206 appearances for Portugal and scored 128 international goals, will be joined by other experienced players like Pepe, 41, and Bruno Fernandes. The squad also includes younger talents like Rafael Leao, Joao Felix, and Goncalo Ramos.
Portugal’s coach, Roberto Martinez, praised Ronaldo’s continued quality in front of goal, saying he “offers a quality that we really appreciate and need.” Despite his age, Ronaldo remains a key player for Portugal, scoring 10 goals in nine qualifying appearances.
The squad will face Finland, Croatia, and Ireland in warm-up matches before heading to Germany for the Euro 2024 tournament, where they will face the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Georgia in Group F.
