The Nigerian music industry has recently witnessed a public exchange between two prominent artists, Davido and Dammy Krane, regarding allegations of unpaid debts.
Dammy Krane had taken to social media to claim that Davido owed him for their successful collaboration on the song “Pere” and appealed to his colleague to settle the debt, mentioning his daughter’s impending school fees as the reason.
In response to these allegations, Davido, in a post on his social media platform, emphasized that he had never been compensated for the three verses he contributed to Dammy Krane’s song nine years ago.
Furthermore, Davido recounted instances where he provided shelter and sustenance to Dammy Krane in Atlanta when the latter was facing homelessness.
Davido’s statement read, “I never got paid for that, also my three verses I’ve gifted you all your dead career. Oh yes, plus my royalties; we charge now, so that’s about $150k per verse times three. Additionally, I covered your house rent and food when you stayed in my house in Atlanta while you were homeless.”
