Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has charged his players to play well on a bad pitch when they face Zambia today in a World Cup qualifier in Ndola.
There have been concerns over the state of the pitch at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium which will host the match today, with Rohr also complaining about the quality of the playing surface but he has urged his players to do well even on the bad pitch.
“The pitch is not good and we saw it in their last game which was against Kenya and as a result, they couldn’t play well,” Rohr said of how the poor pitch has also affected the Zambians.
“We must be able to play well on the bad pitch, we are professionals. You know in Africa, we have bad pitches so it is not a new experience for them (Super Eagles) and they know it.
“We must be careful on the control of the ball because one touch will be difficult, so we must control the ball and play quick but I think our team is capable and we showed in Uyo, where the pitch was not so good too, but we play well,” Rohr reckoned.
