Chelsea forward, Eden Hazard, has revealed that his late winner against Liverpool on Wednesday, came following his desire to help N’Golo Kante avoid participating during in a penalty shootout.
With the game tied 1-1, Hazard netted an excellent individual goal within the 85th minute of a Carabao Cup third round tie at Anfield.
The 27-year-old has currently scored six times in seven appearances in all competitions.
Had the game resulted in a draw it would have gone straight to penalties, according to the new rules in the competition.
When asked by Sky Sports what went through his mind prior to the goal, Hazard replied: “I spoke with N’Golo on the bench and he told me he didn’t want to take a penalty, so the only solution was to score!”
