Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in the Edo State election, has been defeated in his own polling unit, Okay.ng reports.
Akpata faced strong competition from Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Despite being one of the leading contenders for the governorship, Akpata fell short in his polling unit.
The results from Akpata’s polling unit showed the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, emerging victorious with 41 votes, while Akpata came in second with 31 votes. The APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, secured 19 votes.
