Latest reports inform that President Goodluck Jonathan was on Tuesday honoured by the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Kabiru Danbaba, with the title of Garkuwan Manoman Zamfara.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the title, which was in recognition of the President’s contributions to farmers in the state, means “President Goodluck Jonathan is the shield of farmers in Zamfara.’’
It was disclosed that the Emir commended President Jonathan for appointing Retired Gen. Aliyu Gusau as Minister of Defence and Alhaji Bashir Yuguda, the Minister of State for Finance, among others, in his administration.
Jonathan, who was in the state to inaugurate his presidential campaign committee, while responding to the Emir’s comment said if re-elected, he would continue to support farmers and farming activities in the state.
The President also inaugurated his campaign office in the state and addressed a mammoth crowd at a grand rally organised by his campaign coordinator in the state.
