Eric Chelle was officially introduced as the new head coach of the Super Eagles during a ceremony at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Monday.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed Chelle’s appointment last week, marking him as the 42nd substantive head coach of the national team.
The unveiling took place in the stadium’s media conference room, with key NFF officials and members of the football community in attendance.
Chelle, a 47-year-old former Mali international, has been entrusted with the task of reviving Nigeria’s struggling 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles currently sit in fifth place in Group C, with only three points from four matches and no wins recorded so far.
In addition to the World Cup qualifiers, Chelle will also oversee the home-based Super Eagles as they prepare for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast.
