Dapo Arogundade simply known as Dapo
19 year old Dapo is a Systems Engineering undergraduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) , Akoka. His interest in music started at seven, when he began following his mom to choir rehearsals; and he became sure of his talent having repeatedly won a music competition in secondary school.
Dapo hails from Abeokuta, Ogun state. He enjoys an amazing relationship with his family of six but mostly missed his mom while in the Academy.
Wizkid, Davido, and Chris Brown are Dapo’s biggest music influence.
In a recent interview with Forumspotz Media the MTN Project Fame season 9 finalists discussed about the competition, early life, career, future plans and more.
Enlighten Us About Your Yourself, Family and Educational Background.
My name is Oladapo Arogundade Ayoola ,I’m 19years old and a student of unilag systems engineering 300level. Born in a family of 6 including my parents. I’m the first born
What Led Dapo Into Music?
I started music so early. I used to follow my mum to choir rehearsals at the age of 7,I was the leader of the children’s choir in my church.
I used to sing every time in secondary school won a lot of talent hunt competitions in school and was always representing the school musically.
Wow, But Did You Record Any Single Then Or You Just Did Music Writing Alone?
I recorded my first single last year October when Davido saw a video of mine on Twitter and liked it he showed interest in me and I had to hit the studio to record.
You Recorded With Him?
No. I recorded on my own
Dapo says he is not currently under any record label but he is open to be part of a label that is ready to promote himself and his music
How Did You Get Yourself Prepared For MTN Project Fame Season 9.?
I didn’t do any real preparation. I knew I was going in to learn so I went in with an open mind.
So Who Among The Judges & Who In The Facaulty Was Your Favourite?
Bibie Brew and Praiz amongst the judges ,while in the faculty mrs Loveth and uncle Ben. But I loved all of them tho.
Who Among The Contenstants Was Your Fav and Who Was The Closest To You?
Kitay was my favorite. Mirabel was the closest to me.
Mirabel Recently Released A Cover To A Song, When Will Something Like That Come From You?
I’m happy for her but I’m not doing my things based on people’s movement. I’m not in a rush to drop I’m in the cooking room preparing good sound and it will come out at the right time.
Did You Ever Think You Will Get That Far At Project Fame?
Yes I knew I was gonna homey to the finals.
Who Was Your Biggest Threat?
I’d not say the person was a threat per say he was just really good and that is Kitay.
Project Fame Opened Doors For You, Are You Signed To A Label Or Probably Starting Yours?
Yeah project fame gave me a very big platform very wonderful, I’m not signed to any record label but I’m open to signing. I’d love to be under a record label that is ready to push my music me to the world!
Who & Who Are Your Major Music Source Of Inspiration?
In Nigeria. I’ve got Davido and Wizkid. Foreign ,I’ve got Chris Brown and Justin Bieber.

I do Afro pop, But I can do any style of music I’m not restricted to one style.

I was about taking a penalty on the pitch I fell down just as I was about to hit the ball painful and embarrassing I had a knee cease.

When I was rushed by some beautiful girls at The palms.
