Ayodele Fayose, the Ekiti state governor, was Sunday evening, sighted by some Nigerians at the Johannesburg International airport in South Africa while returning from a trip.
Fayose, who was reportedly accompanied by only one aide, was also said to have joined passengers waiting to board the South African Airways 11 pm flight to Lagos.
According to the Nation, the radical governor exchanged pleasantries with some of the Nigerian passengers as he eventually joined the plane and sat in the economy section on the journey back to Lagos.
Many have raised curious observations about the visit, as it is not certain if he was in the former apartheid region to see Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, who is in the country, attending the African Union Summit.
Recall that the Ekiti governor, who only survived impeachment plots by lawmakers, recently pleaded with the president to allow him nominate a worthy candidate to occupy a ministerial post.
