…3 suspected kidnappers arrested hours after flag-off
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday, has announced the start of the second phase of Operation G-7, a special anti-crime operation designed to combat violent crimes in the FCT and neighbouring states.
The operation, which is an improvement on the first phase that was launched earlier this year, aims to improve inter-agency collaboration, proactive crime prevention, and dedicated law enforcement activities to keep the FCT and its neighbouring states safe and secure.
According to a press release signed by State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh, the operation comes as part of preparations for a peaceful Christmas and New Year period. The rejigged operation has already begun to yield positive results, the press release stated.
Operatives from Operation G-7 arrested three suspected kidnappers – Abubakar Umaru, Nasiru Umaru, and Haruna Sulu – in connection with a kidnapping incident in Gwagwalada Area on December 12, 2022. The arrest was made possible following an intelligence-led operation by the operatives.

During a flag-off event for the second phase of the operation, CP Sunday charged the operatives to ensure that criminal elements have no breathing space in the FCT.
He also called on residents to support the police by providing timely and credible information through the following numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883. The Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) desk can be reached at 0902 222 2352.
