The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has issued a directive for the immediate reshuffling of directors across various Secretariats, Departments, and Agencies of the FCT Administration.
Wike made this announcement on Monday during the swearing-in ceremony of the pioneer Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries of the FCTA, Chairman, and members of the FCT Civil Service Commission.
Addressing the new appointees, the minister emphasized that the reshuffle would take effect immediately, urging them to perform their duties diligently or face dismissal.
He stressed the need for directors to embrace their new assignments with a positive attitude, underscoring that reshuffling would occur across all sectors of the FCTA.
“In the immediate aftermath of this event, the Head of Service will issue the postings of Directors. I have mandated a comprehensive reshuffling in all areas, and I will implement it this very afternoon,” Wike declared.
Warning against complacency, Wike emphasized the administration’s zero-tolerance policy for laziness, urging permanent secretaries to avoid any actions that could impede administrative processes.
“We have no time for queries. If you underperform, you will be swiftly replaced as a permanent secretary. Hence, I expect no excuses regarding delayed files. You have your secretaries as your political heads,” he cautioned.
Directing his attention to the newly appointed Coordinators, Wike charged them to excel in their roles, particularly in advancing development initiatives in satellite towns and improving infrastructure within the city center.
Speaking specifically to Felix Amaechi Obuah, the Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Wike emphasized the critical importance of effective service delivery, especially considering the capital’s status as the residence of the President.
“The task ahead will be demanding. With the President residing in the city, there should be no excuses for malfunctioning street lights or inadequate sanitation and waste management,” Wike asserted.
Expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the implementation of the FCT Civil Service Commission (Establishment) Act, 2018, Wike called upon the appointees to demonstrate unwavering commitment and loyalty in ensuring the success of Abuja.
“As you have fervently advocated for this moment, you must demonstrate your appreciation by remaining loyal and committed to Mr. President’s vision for a functional Abuja,” he concluded.
