The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed thousands of personnel and resources across the territory in anticipation of the Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year festivities.
The deployment is aimed at ensuring that crime is promptly dealt with, and providing peace of mind to residents.
The deployment includes intelligence and tactical assets, inter-agency collaboration, strengthened police-community relations, stop and search operations, intelligence-led raids on known crime hotspots, increased visibility policing, highway and border patrols, surveillance, and aggressive vehicular and foot patrols.
In a statement issued by DSP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Police Command, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Babaji Sunday, reassured residents that the police are committed to ensuring their safety during the festive period.
He also urged residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the police through the emergency response lines provided.
In a briefing to senior officers from all units and formations of the FCT Command, the Commissioner charged them to ensure that no stone is left unturned in their efforts to maintain law and order, while also respecting the fundamental human rights of all individuals.
He also emphasized the importance of global best practices in the performance of their duties.
