The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, has been invited for questioning regarding his remarks on the activities of bandits in the country.
Addressing journalists at the State House in Abuja on Monday, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and Orientation, emphasized that Gumi is not exempt from the law.
The government has thus taken the step to summon him for questioning in light of his recent statements.
Gumi has garnered significant attention in recent years for his commentary on the activities of bandits, often engaging directly with these groups.
Notably, he has been photographed alongside various bandit leaders on multiple occasions.
In a recent statement, Gumi asserted that terrorism in Nigeria is not financed by Nigerians but by the terrorists themselves, who resort to kidnapping individuals for ransom.
