The Federal government has said they will probe Atiku Abubakar when he returns to the country from US for alleged role in the collapse of former Bank PHB.
Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents on Friday.
He said the investigation was “following fresh evidence that he (Atiku) benefited from slush funds that led to the collapse of Bank PHB.”
Lai Mohammed stated that the government has in its position “paper trail which shows that he benefited from N156 million.
“It started from an internal memo dated 13 January 2009 asking that a draft in favour of Atiku Abubakar of 156 million should be raised,” he added.
The Minister also noted that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was not disturbed about the latest America trip even though they dared him to visit the country.
According to Mr Mohammed, Atiku could go ahead to obtain the American green card but that would not stop his defeat in the forthcoming election.
He also maintained that his claim does not imply that the former vice president will be arrested on his return.
