Multiple sources have spoken with our correspondents on the current fuel scarcity, saying the issue may continue till 29th May following what they called ‘non-payment of outstanding subsidy claims for imported fuel’. Following this, the marketers have created a scarcity of the product, consequently impeding economic activities.
Other claims from sources close to the marketers say the scarcity is in a bid to force the authorities to pay up outstanding sums before the May 29 change in government.
