The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Deputy Governorship candidate for Lagos, Funke Akindele, has expressed her grief over the passing of her mother, Dr. RB Adebanjo-Akindele.
The news was announced on Tuesday by Funke’s elder sister, Olubunmi Akindele, in an Instagram statement.
Funke took to Instagram to pay tribute to her mother and reflect on the impact she had on her life. She wrote, “Mum, you raised me to be very hardworking, dedicated and selfless. You were a blessing to not just your children but everyone around you. You always had a positive impact in the lives of anyone that came across you.”
The “Jenifa Diary” producer went on to say that her mother taught her and her siblings the way of the Lord and instilled in them the fear of God. Funke added that her mother was selfless and did everything she could to give her children the best life.
Despite the pain of her loss, Funke expressed her pride in her mother’s legacy and promised to make her proud by continuing to work hard and give her best in everything she does.
She said, “Yes it hurts, but I’m happy that your legacy lives on with us your children and grandchildren as well and you’re in a better place.”
Funke closed her tribute by celebrating her mother’s life and wishing her soul peace.
She wrote, “Mum we’re not mourning rather we’re celebrating a life well lived. May your soul rest in perfect peace. I love you mummy.”
