Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has unveiled a robust N159 billion infrastructure development plan aimed at enhancing critical sectors including road construction, education, and healthcare for the 2025 fiscal year.
The official announcement was made on Tuesday at the Executive Council Lounge, located within the Governor’s Office in Abere, Osogbo.
A substantial portion of the budget, precisely N101.8 billion, has been designated for road infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and economic growth across the state. Notable projects under this initiative include:
Osogbo-Iwo-Oyo State Boundary Road: Reconstruction work estimated at N5.94 billion.
Osogbo-Ikirun-Kwara State Boundary Road: Reconstruction effort valued at N13.7 billion.
Ejigbo-Isoko-Aye-Oguro Road: A 5.1-kilometer reconstruction project costing N3.02 billion.
Odo Ori Junction-Post Office Junction-Adeeke Junction Dualisation: A 6.65-kilometer dualisation project, including a spur to Oluwo Palace, budgeted at N10.42 billion.
During the announcement, Governor Adeleke assured the public of his administration’s unwavering commitment to completing both ongoing and newly launched projects without relying on external loans.
“We have not borrowed a dime for any of these projects,” Adeleke stated emphatically, underscoring his commitment to prudent financial management.
Education Sector Renovations and Upgrades
The plan also allocates N1.98 billion for the renovation and construction of educational facilities across the state. Key projects include:
Ede High School, Ede: Renovation of the school hall and pavilion at a cost of N50.2 million.
Agbonran School of Science, Ede South: Renovation projects worth N200 million.
Oranmiyan Memorial Grammar School, Ile-Ife: Renovation efforts budgeted at N149.5 million.
Ogedengbe School of Science, Ilesa: Classroom and hall renovations estimated at N137 million.
These initiatives are aimed at improving learning environments and enhancing educational standards throughout Osun State.
Healthcare Revamp Through Primary Health Centres
In the health sector, Governor Adeleke’s administration has earmarked N2.76 billion for the complete renovation of 124 primary healthcare centres across the state.
This effort seeks to boost healthcare accessibility and delivery to residents, particularly those in rural areas.
Governor Adeleke reaffirmed that all projects would be financed through state allocations, internally generated revenue (IGR), and special funds recovered from the federal government, without incurring additional debt.
“We are embarking on another round of massive infrastructure upgrades… I assure our people that we will not take any loans to execute these projects,” he stated.
Additionally, the governor provided updates on the progress of ongoing projects from the previous infrastructure phase, including the Ilesa Dualisation Project and Ile-Ife Flyover, both at 60% completion, the Oke-Fia Flyover at over 90% completion, and the LAMECO Flyover at approximately 50% completion.
The government remains optimistic that the projects will be completed within the current fiscal year, further enhancing Osun State’s infrastructure landscape.
