Tensions in the Middle East have escalated dramatically as Hamas militants launched an unprecedented attack on Israeli territory.
It is believed that dozens of Israelis, including both soldiers and civilians, have been taken hostage by the militants.
Reports from various sources indicate that the Israeli death toll currently stands at a minimum of 70 people, with hundreds more receiving treatment in hospitals.
Some media outlets have reported an even higher figure, suggesting that the death toll may have reached 100.
In retaliation, Israeli forces have conducted airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of nearly 200 people.
Hamas military commander, Mohammed Deif, confirmed the militant group’s responsibility for the attacks, stating that Hamas had fired more than 5,000 rockets into Israel as part of what he referred to as “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.” Deif cited Israel’s actions in Jerusalem, including what he termed the “desecration” of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as the motivation for the attacks. He also claimed that Israel had killed and wounded hundreds of Palestinians throughout the year.
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has declared that the nation is now at war. In a statement, Netanyahu warned, “The enemy will pay a price he has never known. In the meantime, I call on all citizens of Israel to strictly obey the instructions of the army and the instructions of the Home Command.”
