Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan has joined Arsenal form Manchester United in a deal that would see Alexis Sanchez go the other way.
Mkhitaryan joined Manchester United last season, playing 39 games, scoring five and helping the team to the Uefa Europa league crown. He has however been out of favour at Old Trafford, finding himself relegated to the bench.
The Armenian captain, in a statement on the club website, expressed his happiness that the deal could be done.
“Now that I am here, I’ll do my best for this club to create history,” he added.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger praised his qualities.
“Henrikh is a very complete player. He creates chances, he defends well, he can absorb distances and he is very committed as well. I must say he’s a player who has all the attributes.”
