Ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas has made a u-turn and denied being gay after a controversial tweet on Sunday afternoon, now deleted.
The 41-year old had tweeted “I hope you respect me: I’m gay.”
His announcement was met with shock and surprise from many football fans across the globe.
Casilas, in a more recent tweet tendered an apology to his followers adding that his account was hacked.
“Hacked account. Luckily everything in order.
Apologise to all my followers. And of course, more apologies to the LGBT community. 🙏” He said.

The Spaniard was married to sports journalist Sara Carbonero for five years before their separation in March 2021, having had two children, both boys.
As one of the most acconplished goalkeepers in football history, he won one World Cup, two European Championships, five La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues in a distinguished senior career which spanned 22 years.
