The abducted chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Ishola Balogun-Fulani, and the party’s secretary, Chief Bode Adekanye, have been released.
The APC chieftains were rescued by men of Kogi State Police Command at about 6.30pm yesterday.The Kwara State publicity secretary of APC, Alh. Sulyman Buhari broke the news of the release of the two men in an interview in Ilorin.
He said, “the APC chieftains were rescued by men of the Kogi State Police Command, added that the freed men will pass the night in Lokoja, before returning to Ilorin today, Sunday.”
Alh. Buhari disclosed that no ransom was paid, saying Balogun-Fulani and Adekanye were on Friday kidnapped by unknown gunmen along Okene-Lokoja Road while returning from Abuja.
Meanwhile, a third class traditional ruler in Kogi State, the Elete of Elete, Chief Aminu Ahmed Aku and a naval officer are cooling their heels in kidnappers’ den.
Kogi State while they were returning to Ilorin from Abuja.The traditional ruler, it was gathered, was kidnapped along Ajaokuta- Lokoja road at about 9 p.m. on Friday night.
According to a source, the third class royal father was few meters away from his village, Elete, when the gunmen blocked his vehicle and whisked him away on foot to an unknown destination.
In the same vein, the Naval officer whose identity is yet to be ascertained was also kidnapped on Friday evening in Lokoja.According to an eye witnessed account, the Naval officer was ambushed by two young men who railroaded him into a waiting car and drove off in high speed.
The Police Public Relations Officer of Kogi State Police Command, Mr. William Aya, said the Command is yet to be briefed on the incident.
