Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has warned that the current tensions in Nigeria might lead to a repeat of the civil war that started in 1967.
He was reacting to the current face-off between the Nigerian Army and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South-east.
The former president warned that the tensions should not be allowed to escalate into a conflict.
Speaking to newsweek, Obasanjo urged the federal government to engage IPOB in dialogue.
He said: ”Those who fought in the war in Biafra will not want to fight any other war.
”I have fought one war too many in Nigeria; I don’t want to see another.”
