Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he will not be deterred from maintaining his status as the best footballer in the world.
The Portugal international was responding to the five-match ban handed to him by the Spanish football authorities for pushing a referee in Real Madrid’s Super Cup game at rivals Barcelona.
Ronaldo was first booked for removing his shirt in celebration after scoring from the bench, before he was shown a second yellow card for allegedly diving in the penalty area.
He was angry with the referee’s decision which prompted him to push the official in the back and was therefore handed a five-match ban.
An appeal from the Spanish champions followed the decision, but it was upheld by Spain’s Administrative Court of Sport on Tuesday.
And Ronaldo wrote on Instagram afterwards that ”One more incomprehensible decision. From injustice to injustice, they will never overthrow me.”
“And as always I will come back stronger. Thank you to all who have supported me.”
The Madrid forward will be unavailable for the side’s upcoming La Liga matches against Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad.
