The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Senator Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Edo State governorship election, Okay.ng reports.
Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, defeating his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes.
Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) finished third with 22,763 votes.
The declaration was made by INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Minna, who confirmed that Okpebholo satisfied the requirements of the law by polling the majority of votes in the election.
The results from all 18 local government areas (LGAs) were collated and announced on Sunday, with Okpebholo emerging as the clear victor.
