Instagram Head Adam Mosseri has dismissed widespread rumors that the platform penalizes users who create content using external editing apps, clarifying the company’s stance on content distribution.
In a recent Instagram post, Mosseri addressed ongoing speculation, assuring users that Instagram does not penalize content created outside its app.
“We don’t penalize content for being created in other apps,” Mosseri clearly stated.
However, he offered a critical caveat regarding content sharing, urging creators to avoid using content with visible watermarks, as this could negatively impact the reach and distribution of their posts.
“Just make sure you avoid posting content with watermarks, as that can affect your distribution,” he added.
This clarification comes amid increasing concerns from creators who worried their reach and engagement were being intentionally suppressed by Instagram’s algorithm because they used external editing apps.
