Super Eagles striker, Alex Iwobi, has stated that it was not difficult for him to pick Nigeria ahead of England for his international football career.
Iwobi told the BBC on Friday that he had always wanted to play for Nigeria.
“Many people thought it was easy for me to play for England but I knew in my heart that my choice was Nigeria. It is an honour to play for one’s country and since I have what it takes to do so, I just had to grab the opportunity,” he said.
Iwobi has since made 20 appearances for Arsenal this season and scored twice, and is enjoying every moment of playing for his boyhood club.
“I have always loved Arsenal,” he told Arsenal Player.
“When I was young, I was always waiting to watch the legends of the club play. You could say I have the blood of Arsenal in me!
“I have seen the picture of me [signing as child] in the yellow top. I remember signing – that moment was crazy, I remember smiling so much. My mum and dad were proud of me and they were there waiting for me.”
