Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State on Monday urged President Goodluck Jonathan to endorse the use of temporary voter cards for the 2015 general elections.
Jang spoke at the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party in Jos on Monday.
“If the Independent National Electoral Commission insists on the PVCs, many people in Plateau will be disenfranchised and the PDP will miss many votes,” Jang said.
He added: “Your Excellency, about half of the Plateau have not received their PVCs and that includes my humble self.
“We used the temporary cards in 2011 and recently used it during the Local Government elections without any problems.
“We must ensure that no one is denied the right to vote through no fault of his or hers otherwise the elections may not reflect the will of the majority of the people.”
Jang promised a repeat of Jonathan’s success in the 2011 elections, adding that the state would give three million votes to the PDP in the February 14 presidential poll.
“Plateau is a PDP state and shall continue to be so,” he said.
