Aston Villa, on Saturday, named John Terry as the new skipper heading into the 2017/2018 Championship season.
Terry, who joined up with the Villans after leading Chelsea to many successes as team captain, replaces Wales’s international and fellow central defender James Chester.
“Aston Villa are pleased to announce John Terry as captain. Terry will be skipper for the 2017/18 campaign,” the club said in a statement on their website.
The 36-year-old led the team out in his new role in a pre-season game against third division side, Shrewsbury Town.
