The Katsina State government has relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on Dutsinma Local Government Area, following an improvement in the security situation. Acting Governor Faruk Jobe made the announcement after a meeting with the State Security Council.
The curfew, which was initially imposed from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, has been lifted due to the return of calm in the area. However, the ban on unusual gatherings and protests remains in place throughout the state.
The government commended security agents for their handling of recent protests and thanked parents and community leaders for cautioning youths against participating in violent activities. Several arrests have been made in connection with the recent violence, lootings, and vandalism, with some suspects already charged to court.
The State Security Council has appealed for calm and law-abiding behavior, assuring citizens that efforts are being made to guarantee safety and security.
