The Caretaker Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State, Zacheaus Dare, who was kidnapped by gunmen on Friday night, has been released. However, his aides, who were abducted alongside him, remain in captivity.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, the chairman was kidnapped on Friday night along Kabba-Okene Road but managed to escape from his abductors. Aya confirmed that the chairman’s aides were taken to an unknown destination.
In a statement, the Owe Political Forum expressed gratitude for the chairman’s safe release and thanked security forces for their efforts. They also appealed for the swift and safe release of the chairman’s aides, who are still being held by the kidnappers.
The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, with kidnappings and abductions becoming increasingly common.
