The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion on key routes in Ikoyi to facilitate the first phase of rehabilitation of asphaltic sections.
This diversion, set to begin on June 26 and end on July 27, aims to improve road conditions in the bustling area.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos, made this announcement in a statement on Tuesday.
He emphasized the necessity of the diversion to ensure the successful completion of the roadworks on Alfred Rewane Road and Osborne Foreshore Estate.
“Motorists are urged to cooperate with traffic officials and utilize the designated alternative routes during the rehabilitation period,” Osiyemi stated.
He provided detailed guidance for motorists to help them navigate the diversions smoothly:
“Motorists from Alexander/Glover should use Oba Adeyinka Oyekan Avenue inwards Ikoyi to connect Obalende/Ring Road and access the Third Mainland Bridge to proceed with their journeys,” the statement read.
“Those traveling from Victoria Island are advised to go through Falomo Roundabout to link Awolowo Road and access the Third Mainland Bridge to reach their desired destinations. Alternatively, motorists from Victoria Island can utilize Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue to link Mekunwen Bridge and proceed to CMS/Apongbon Bridge inwards Eko Bridge to access Funsho Williams Avenue to reach their desired destinations.”
Osiyemi assured the public that traffic managers would be present to help minimize inconveniences and ensure a steady flow of traffic during the rehabilitation period.
