A 57-year-old man, Sunday Osemwekhe, is in police net in Benin for allegedly killing his half-brother with machete over a local soup called owoh.
According to PM News, the incident reportedly happened at Evboesi community in Orhionmwon Local Government area of Edo state.
Sunday and the deceased were said to have engaged in hot argument over owoh soup, a local delicacy in the state used for eating yam, plantain and wheat.
Sunday was paraded with 80 other suspects by the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo.
Mr Adebanjo said the deceased took from Sunday’s soup without his permission and it led to an argument that reportedly degenerated into fracas, which resulted in Sunday cutting off the victim’s hand with a machete which led to his death few days later.
The commissioner disclosed that the suspect would be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
It will recalled that last year, a 27-year-old undergraduate of Madonna University, Chijioke Ezebuiro was been arrested by the Abia state Police for killing his 87-year old father, Dr Emmanuel Ezebuiro.
