Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, revealed that he received ₦25 million as allowance during his tenure, dispelling public perception of excessive salaries and allowances for National Assembly members.
Speaking at the ‘Legislative Open Week’ in Abuja, Dogara stated that his salary as Speaker was less than ₦400,000 per month. He emphasized that the allowance was not personal and was managed separately, never lasting more than three days due to constituency expectations.
Dogara’s clarification aims to provide transparency and understanding of the National Assembly’s compensation, addressing public concerns and misconceptions.
