The home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Group D of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) alongside defending champions Senegal, Congo, and Sudan.
The draw ceremony, which took place on Wednesday night at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya, set the stage for the highly anticipated tournament.
This marks a significant moment for the Super Eagles, as they return to the biennial competition after a six-year absence.
Their participation has sparked optimism among fans and stakeholders eager to see Nigeria’s local talents excel on the continental stage.
The tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, features 20 teams divided into four groups.
Groupings:
- Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia.
- Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic.
- Group C: Uganda (co-hosts), Niger, Guinea, with two additional teams set to join later.
- Group D: Nigeria, Senegal, Congo, Sudan.
The Super Eagles face a tough challenge in Group D, particularly against defending champions Senegal, who clinched the title in 2022.
