Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the country would soon be at the top of the media space as a result of government’s involvement in the promotion of technology.
He made the optimism known in Abuja during the presentation of N756.3m grant to 81 young Nigerian innovators.
The vice president noted that the grant is made possible through the Growth and Employment Project financed by the World Bank and it is to help begin direct investment in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise technology start-ups.
He stated that the young innovators were selected following a technological innovation competition organised by the Presidency called ‘Aso Villa Demo Day’
Osinbajo said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari would be encouraging hardworking innovators to design technologies for agriculture, infrastructure, health care and other social services.
The Vice President said the digital innovation and creativity will define the future of people’s work and will not matter where in the world the innovator lives, he or she can develop an idea that within days can become world famous.
