The Nigerian Army has denied reports that 23 of its personnel are missing.
Reports had emerged over the weekend that troops fighting insurgency in Nigeria’s northeast were missing following an attack by terror group Boko Haram.
Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, the military squad in the Northeast, Major General Nicholas Rogers, said the reports were false.
According to him, there was no incident in Boboshe, the area reportedly attacked, but rather that troops only carried out operations along Kwakwa and Bula Naglin areas in Borno state.
The military official explained to Channels TV that during the operation, some of their vehicles were bugged down due to bad roads.
He said the insurgents came on two occasions to attack but were repelled by the joint efforts of the Nigerian Air Force and Army troops.
He disclosed further that one officer and a soldier were injured, with over 22 Boko Haram members killed during the incident.
