The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has appointed Ben Iloanusi as its acting managing director following the completion of Fidet Okhiria’s tenure as MD.
The announcement was made in a statement on Sunday by Yakub Mahmood, the deputy director of public relations at NRC.
Okhiria, who completed his second four-year tenure on October 18, 2024, officially handed over to Iloanusi, who is the most senior executive director at the corporation. Iloanusi has been with the NRC since 2011 and has served as the deputy director of procurement since 2019.
According to Mahmood, Iloanusi holds a degree in political science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in international management from South Bank University, London, United Kingdom.
In his farewell speech, Okhiria expressed gratitude for the support he received during his time as MD and encouraged NRC staff to extend the same cooperation to Iloanusi.
“I enjoin the management and staff of the corporation to extend the same cooperation and understanding to the acting managing director,” Okhiria said.
In his first address as acting MD, Iloanusi requested the continued support of the NRC staff and welcomed constructive criticism to help improve the corporation and drive it forward.
